    Testosterone Replacement

    • Only indicated if:
      • AM Testosterone level < 200 ng/dL (6.9 nmol/L, or 2 ng/mL)
      • Source of hypogonadism is identified 

     

    Treatment of Perimenopausal Symptoms

    • Indicated for women 40-60yo, used < 10 years
    • Contraindicated in previous:
      • Heart Disease
      • Breast Cancer
      • Venous Thromboembolism 
    • If woman has a uterus --> estrogen is given with progestin to prevent endometrial hyperplasia
    • If woman has NO uterus --> estorgen alone
    • NOTE:
      • Estrogen patch does not increase risk of thromboembolic disease
